Domestic violence is a pervasive social issue in the Philippines, particularly within intimate relationships, and poses significant challenges to the well-being of its victims. This study aims to explore the lived experiences of domestic violence survivors in Negros Occidental during the year 2017, providing a deeper understanding of the physical, emotional, and psychological impacts of abuse. Using a qualitative phenomenological research design, the study involved ten informants who were selected through purposive sampling. In-depth personal interviews were conducted with participants from various cities in Negros Occidental, including Sagay, Escalante, Cadiz, and Bacolod City. All informants were identified as survivors of domestic violence, sharing firsthand accounts of their struggles and coping mechanisms.

The collected data were analyzed using thematic analysis, which uncovered ten emergent themes that characterize the experiences of the participants: The Great Constant Sufferer of Domestic Violence, The Moment of Truth behind Husband Drunkenness, The Mercilessness Husband, The Martyrdom, The Crying Soul in the Darkest Moment, The Scream of Financially Abused Wife, Deteriorated Mind and Emotion of Young Child, Fighting against Self-Infliction, The Hoping Future of a Living Soul, and Bringing the Hidden Problem to Light. These themes highlight the multifaceted nature of domestic violence, encompassing not only physical harm but also emotional and financial abuse, with significant consequences for the victims' families, particularly children.

The study offers valuable insights into the complex realities faced by domestic violence victims, emphasizing the need for comprehensive support systems and interventions. It also seeks to raise awareness and inform policy development aimed at addressing the root causes and consequences of domestic violence in the region.
