Abstract
This study assesses the adherence and compliance of school personnel with the Child Protection Policy mandated by the Department of Education (DepEd), focusing on the training provided and implementation guidelines. Using a descriptive correlational design, the study surveyed 70 personnel from STI College Calamba. Data were gathered through structured questionnaires measuring compliance with training and modules, policy implementation, awareness, and responsiveness. Results indicated moderate compliance with child protection training (M = 3.24, SD = 0.63) and policy implementation (M = 3.20, SD = 0.56). Awareness was generally high (M = 3.60, SD = 0.40), especially regarding bullying, though awareness of the zero-tolerance policy on child abuse was slightly lower (M = 3.46, SD = 0.67). Responsiveness was moderate (M = 3.34, SD = 0.52), indicating the need for improved engagement. Correlation analysis revealed a strong positive relationship between policy implementation and awareness (r = 0.520, p = 0.000) and between implementation and responsiveness (r = 0.739, p = 0.000). Moderate positive correlations were also observed between training and awareness (r = 0.369, p = 0.000) and between training and responsiveness (r = 0.447, p = 0.000). The study concludes that while there is commendable compliance, further enhancements in training delivery, policy dissemination, and stakeholder involvement are necessary. It recommends the establishment of a Child Protection Committee and the development of comprehensive training programs. Future research should involve a wider respondent base to deepen understanding of policy implementation across different educational settings.
